CHILDREN CRY

Val Williamson

In the city streets she wanders, looking for the mother she’s lost

All the old familiar places reduced to rubble and dust.

Houses burning children learning early lessons in staying alive

Lives are shattered, all that matters is the will to survive.

Children cry for the lives they’ve lost

Children cry for their family

Children cry for they’re torn and tossed

On a sea of insanity.

Houses crumble, women stumble, in the darkness their children to find

Hear them screaming, watch them leaving all their hopes behind

In the city streets she wanders, never found the mother she’s lost

Many children’s lives are squandered what will be the cost?

Children cry for the lives they’ve lost

Children cry for their family

Children cry for they’re torn and tossed

On a sea of insanity.

In the night sky stars are shining, guiding travelers lost on their way

In the east the sun is rising, promising a new day.
